The experience
Trek Overview
Everything you need to know before stepping into the mountains.
The Valley of Flowers Trek leads into one of Uttarakhand’s most celebrated high-altitude landscapes. The national park forms part of the UNESCO-listed Nanda Devi and Valley of Flowers National Parks, recognised for its alpine meadows, endemic flora and exceptional West Himalayan biodiversity.
Our six-day route begins and ends in Rishikesh. After the mountain drive, the walking trail climbs from Pulna to Ghangaria, the gateway for both the Valley of Flowers and Hemkund Sahib. You will spend one full day exploring the valley and another making the steeper ascent to Hemkund Sahib before descending to the roadhead.
The trek is suitable for active beginners who prepare in advance, but it should not be treated as an effortless walk. Rain, slippery stone sections, long ascents and the altitude at Hemkund can make the journey demanding. The itinerary allows sensible pacing, three nights at Ghangaria and time to experience the landscape without combining the valley and Hemkund into one rushed day.
July to September is the main trekking season and the landscape changes through it: July is lush, August is known for dense floral colour, and September often brings clearer mountain views. Flowering, weather and trail conditions are natural and cannot be guaranteed on a specific date.
