The experience
Trek Overview
Everything you need to know before stepping into the mountains.
This 3-day Deoriatal Tungnath Trek is built for travellers who want a real Garhwal Himalayan experience without committing to a long expedition. In one compact route, it connects Sari Village, the forest-framed Deoriatal lake, the meadows of Chopta, the Tungnath Temple trail and the Chandrashila ridge.
The format is intentionally simple: both nights are at Sari Village in the camp or homestay confirmed for your departure. That means less packing and shifting, more time to settle into the mountains, and a cleaner plan for first-time Himalayan trekkers, working professionals and small groups travelling from Rishikesh.
Day 2 is the main mountain day. After a local transfer to Chopta, the route climbs steadily toward Tungnath and then becomes steeper toward Chandrashila. The Chandrashila section is planned, not forced. Weather, snow, trail condition, daylight and group fitness decide how far the team proceeds.
Deoriatal brings the quieter side of the journey: forest trail, lake reflections and the Chaukhamba view when the sky is clear. Spring can bring rhododendron colour, autumn often gives sharper mountain visibility, and winter can turn the route into a cold snow trek. Tungnath Temple follows a seasonal opening and closing cycle, so temple entry and trekking access are treated separately.
