Detailed itinerary

Drive Distance: Approx. 200 km | Duration: 8–9 Hours

Your journey begins from Rishikesh with a scenic drive through the beautiful mountain roads of Garhwal Himalayas. On the way, we visit the famous Devprayag Sangam, where the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers meet to form the holy Ganga River. The spiritual energy and breathtaking river views make it a memorable stop.

Further ahead, we visit the sacred Dhari Devi Temple, located on the banks of the Alaknanda River. This temple holds great spiritual importance in Uttarakhand and offers a peaceful atmosphere surrounded by mountains.

By evening, we reach Sari Village, the charming base camp of the Deoriatal Trek. Surrounded by forests and traditional Himalayan homes, the village offers a perfect mountain escape. After check-in, enjoy delicious Pahadi-style dinner, warm hospitality, and a relaxing bonfire night under the stars.

Trek Distance: Approx. 7–8 km

After breakfast, we begin our trek toward the magical Deoriatal Lake, passing through dense oak forests, rhododendron trails, and the beautiful alpine meadows of Risuri Bugyal. The trail is peaceful, rich in birdlife, and offers occasional glimpses of the snow-covered Chaukhamba massif.

Risuri Bugyal welcomes trekkers with open grasslands, fresh mountain air, and stunning Himalayan landscapes. As we continue, the route becomes even more beautiful with forest trails and high-altitude scenery.

By afternoon, we reach Deoriatal, a crystal-clear alpine lake famous for reflecting the Chaukhamba peaks on calm mornings. The peaceful lake, surrounded by forest and mountains, creates a magical camping experience.

Spend the evening enjoying sunset views, photography, and peaceful moments by the lake.

Night Stay: Camps near Deoriatal under the stars

Trek Distance: Approx. 10–12 km

Wake up early to witness the stunning sunrise reflection of Chaukhamba peaks in Deoriatal Lake. After breakfast, we begin our trek toward Syalmi Bugyal via the scenic Rohini Bugyal.

Today’s trail takes us deeper into untouched Himalayan wilderness with dense forests, hidden ridgelines, and wide-open meadows. Rohini Bugyal offers beautiful grasslands surrounded by towering peaks and peaceful silence.

As the trek gains altitude, the landscapes become more dramatic with panoramic mountain views and rich alpine vegetation. The route is ideal for spotting Himalayan Monal, Griffon vultures, and colorful mountain flowers.

By evening, we reach the vast and beautiful Syalmi Bugyal, one of the hidden gems of this trek. Camping here feels magical, surrounded by endless meadows and Himalayan silence.

Night Stay: Camps at Syalmi Bugyal

Trek Distance: Approx. 8–9 km

After breakfast, we continue descending and traversing through forest ridges toward Baniyakund, a peaceful meadow region near Chopta known for its lush green landscapes and dense rhododendron forests.

The trail today passes through beautiful oak forests, open bugyals, and scenic Himalayan pathways with fresh mountain air and constant views of surrounding peaks. During spring, the forests bloom with red and pink rhododendrons, making the trail incredibly vibrant.

Baniyakund is a beautiful camping destination surrounded by forests and meadows, often covered in mist and mountain silence.

Relax and prepare for the summit push to Tungnath and Chandrashila the next day.

Night Stay: Camps / Guesthouse at Baniyakund

Trek Distance: Approx. 10–12 km

Today is the most exciting and rewarding day of the trek. After an early breakfast, we begin the trek to Tungnath Temple, the highest Shiva temple in the world, located at an altitude of 3,680 meters.

The stone-paved trail from Chopta to Tungnath offers stunning views of snow-covered Himalayan peaks, alpine grasslands, and peaceful mountain landscapes. The spiritual energy of Tungnath Temple makes this experience truly special.

After visiting the temple, we continue the final steep ascent to Chandrashila Summit. This summit offers one of the best 360-degree Himalayan views in Uttarakhand, including Nanda Devi, Trishul, Kedarnath Dome, Chaukhamba, Bandarpoonch, and many more majestic peaks.

After spending quality time at the summit, we descend back and head toward the base camp for rest and celebration.

Drive Distance: Approx. 200 km | Duration: 8–9 Hours

After breakfast, we begin our return journey to Rishikesh, carrying unforgettable memories of alpine lakes, sacred temples, hidden bugyals, summit views, forest trails, and peaceful Himalayan nights.

Fitness Requirements

To comfortably complete this long journey trek, participants should have good physical fitness and stamina.
Trekkers should be able to:

  • Walk 6–8 km daily on mountain terrain with gradual and steep ascents
  • Manage multiple trekking days with backpack support
  • Maintain stamina for long walking hours in changing weather conditions
  • Adapt to high-altitude trekking and outdoor camping conditions
Prior trekking experience is helpful but not mandatory if you maintain strong basic fitness.
We recommend preparing at least 3–4 weeks before the trek with:
  • Brisk walking or jogging (4–5 km daily)
  • Stair climbing practice
  • Cycling or light cardio workouts
  • Basic stretching and breathing exercises
